Do I need an internet connection?
You only need internet for the initial download (the app installer + Persona Model AI, which is 1-5GB depending on what Residence AI Persona Model picked). After that, Residence AI works completely offline. Auto-updates check for new versions but can be disabled, But do need internet connection to update .
What are the system requirements?
Windows 10 or later, 8GB RAM minimum (16GB recommended), and 5-10GB of free disk space for the app and models. A dedicated GPU is not required but improves response speed.
Is my data really private?
Yes. Residence AI runs entirely on your computer. Conversations are stored locally in your user data folder. No data is sent to any cloud (server), ever. The AI models we used run locally using Ollama. There's no account, no login, no telemetry — nothing to phone home.
What is the GPU recommendations?
GPU recommendations — works out of the box with ResidenceAI (CUDA, no setup required):
NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB — ENTRY
NVIDIA GTX 1080 8GB — BETTER
NVIDIA RTX 3070 8GB — BETTER
NVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB — BEST
Rule of thumb for ResidenceAI: NVIDIA, 8GB or more. The 3060 12GB makes everything instant. AMD cards are not used for AI acceleration; ResidenceAI automatically falls back to CPU mode if no supported GPU is present.
NOTES:
8GB vs 12GB doesn't matter for the models shipped in our installer — the default model fits with room to spare, and the larger optional models fit fully in 8GB. The RTX 3060 12GB only pulls ahead if ResidenceAI starts loading 12–14B models entirely into VRAM in the future.

Each licensed ResidenceAI (Core) includes Community Support, one year of updates for the current version,
with built‑in auto‑update notifications that you control via your Setting in the software.
When your year ends, you can continue receiving updates, new features, Community Support for only $20 per year.
